First Christmas

We were excited to have our first Christmas with Zoe, because it will be different for Zoe than for Isabella. Zoe has an older sister to watch and steal toys from. We had a great time and spent lots of time playing with the kids.

Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

Zoe & the school bus

Zoe inherited Isabella's toy school bus. She loves playing with it. Here's a little clip.

Zoe's last 3 months

I am well aware that I have not been very good about posting in the last few months. It's not that I did not have enough material or Zoer has not been doinganything - I just did not get around to it and going through all the pictures took time.

In the last few months we had visitors and travelled. In October my brother Thomas came to visit. In November Tante Sherri came to visit and we went for Thanksgiving to Florida for a week.

Right now Zoe is 8-1/2 months old. By 6 months she has been sitting up by herself, Lots of ba-ba, br-br, ma-ma and lots of happy smiles. She is not crawling yet, but shows a strong interest in wanting to move. She rocks on all fours andwhen sitting up she uses her arms to balance. She likes and wants to stand, but needs help holding.

Her are some pictures of the last 3 months.

First time rolling over

Last night Zoe rolled over for the first time. She's been trying for a few days and it seems like she was almost there. Yesterday she rolled over from belly to front for the first time. It was great because it happened when Gary was home and we were all together on the floor. :-)

Unfortunately we don't have a movie or pictures of it. It just happened so fast.

Zoe bouncing

Last week we got Isabella's bouncer out and tried it with Zoe. After a few minutes trying she really started enjoying it. Isabella wanted to get in it too, but we had to tell her that she is to big. After that she got her trashcan and started bouncing on it instead.

Here are some pictures and movie of Zoe bouncing.

Size

Crazy how different in size Zoe and Isabella are. I went to Zoe's 4 months check up and she measured 26-1/2 inches (95%) and weighs 15 lbs 10 oz (90%). Isabella was at her 4 months check up 24-3/4 inches and weighed 13 lbs 6 oz, which is about 50%. We took some pictures of Zoe in her Bumbo and the blue swing chair and Isabella thought she tried them out too.

Sleeping through the night - YES!

For 2 weeks now Zoe has been sleeping through the night. That means we put her down at 7.30 pm at night and she wakes up at around 6.30 am. We had a couple nights when she woke up in the middle of the night, but that's it. It's also great that she has been able for over a month now to put her self to sleep and she does not really require much rocking to sleep. We like to hold her sometimes, just because she looks so peaceful and it's nice to hold her for a little.

New skills

Zoe has been improving a lot in the last few weeks

  • makes lots of talking noises
  • smiles a lot
  • gives return smiles
  • grabs toys
  • found her feet
  • puts stuff in her mouth
  • is a lot better with belly time (still not her favorite position)

When I went for her months well visit my pediatrician recommended to see a physical therapist because Zoe had a flat spot on the back of her right head. The reason for this is her favoring to move her head to the right side. After a few visits and repositioning exercises her head movement has improvement and the flat spot has improved. The physical therapist noticed the improved and says that it is good that we have started seeing her so early and full improvement should be possible without the necessity for Zoe wearing a helmet.

Tante Sherri meets Zoe

While Maria was here Sherri came to meet Zoe, too and to see Maria again. We had a fun time being here with 3 women and girls. Poor Gary - he was really outnumbered :-)

Happy Baby

After a few challenging weeks Zoe has turned around and become a real happy baby. After turning 3 weeks she really struggled and needed lots of body contact and did not like sleeping in her crib. A lot has changed since last week. She smiles a lot, is content and makes lots of happy noises.

Yeah! See here some new pictures.

New Zoe pictures

Here are some new Zoe pictures. I went today to the pediatrician. Zoe is in height in the 50-75% and in weight 75%. She's been hauling away those bottles like crazy, little chunky-monkey!
